  • Florida recount thwarts sitcom

LOS ANGELES, California -- "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are anxiously watching the Florida recount -- not because they care who lands in the White House. They just want someone to win so they can get started on their new show.

The main character on "Family First," their new live-action sitcom, will be based on the actual president of the United States. But until someone wins, they can't cast the show or write the first episode. The show is scheduled to premiere February 28 on Comedy Central.

    Martin Sheen: Bush a 'drunk'

VISTA DEL MAR, California -- Actor Martin Sheen called Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush a "white-knuckle drunk" in a speech at a California treatment center Saturday.

A recovering substance abuser, Sheen expressed concern that Bush never received counseling after his 1976 arrest for drunken driving. "He's still in denial about it," said Sheen. "You have got to be in a program. I did not make up the rules about that."

South African 'Noah's Ark' brings animals home

DURBAN, South Africa -- It was a modern-day version of Noah's Ark -- 22 giraffes and three rhinoceroses recently completed a sea voyage lasting 40 days and 40 nights.

The animals were captured in Africa and shipped to Spain, where they were supposed to live out their days in zoos and safari parks. But Spanish authorities refused to admit the animals, concerned they might be carrying hoof and mouth disease, which has been raging in South Africa.

So, the animals were sent home.

MOVIE OF THE WEEK: love diet

MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- Alexander Kabankov proves love can conquer all.

In his case, love helped him triumph in his battle of the bulge. Once weighing more than 200 kilograms (440 pounds), Kabankov shed 60 kilograms (132 pounds) to win a woman's heart.

"I wanted to be good looking for my honey," Kabankov, once known as Moscow's fattest man, said. "For love, a man will do anything."
