Yes, that is the main reason. In fact, the people who are using it right now (my organisation) still use 1.2 and I can't get them to change. I've tried to keep it independent of anything not in 1.2, but it seems like it even works on 1.1. As far as cutting down development time by using regexes, well, you have no idea how much I cursed while writing the indexOf and substring functions.
