imho, i think these type of ideas and/or mentors may be a good way to get "new" 
talent code and push hugin further along than other panoramic stitches 
currently out there.  Perhaps it's just a dream, but many of the larger 
projects are "sponsored" and some them are a direct result of what they have 
achieved.

perhaps a list of willing mentors, a list of goals, and a list of "rewards" (be 
it money or someone willing to donate a pano head, camera, etc.)  i've found 
that sometimes a small reward can help sway someone who is passionate about the 
software but is not quite ready to commit to a coding project.  i think a 
mixture of ideas, weather they be bounties, mentoring, rewards, etc. may push 
the project.
