Thanks Harry, that's interesting.  So the output from autopano-sift-c
is the same format file as the .pto files that hugin generates?  I
wouldn't have expected that, but I guess it makes things rather
clean.  Does the temp file from autopano have to be renamed to have
a .pto ending to get hugin to recognize it when trying to Open it
manually?

Also, do I have to be careful about "losing" settings if I Open it
manually?  For instance, if I've already set up blending settings or
stitching settings in the project I'm working on, will they get lost
by opening a new .pto file?  Or are the settings "additive" within a
session?  I noticed there's no way to Close a project, just Save them
and Open them.
