When I set up the InnoSetup installer I looked at the registry keys left 
from an older installer and replicated them. If the older installer add 
redundant entries, so does the InnoSetup. Nothing wrong with redundancy IMO.

I think it is because it came for free with wxWidgets. I am not sure if 
wxWidgets supports writing preferences to an .ini file.

should be easy to do in the InnoSetup installer files. however is it 
really necessary? if you simply install into default location, copying 
C:\Program Files\Hugin to your USB stick will make it portable.
