Very helpful information. So it is not just me. .... Will go
look at Harry's site.

This error occurs in 10.5. I have no idea why.

I use 10.5.4 and encounter the stitching error. I could call Steve
Jobs and ask him about this, but he is currently on his medical leave
of absence and has kinda been ignoring the Macintosh line anyway ever
since the advent of the iPhone and iPad.

The same error doesn't occur on 10.4 or 10.6 on my Macs, I just started up my G4 PowerBook that runs 10.5 so I can check if I can see this misbehaviour.

Note that blaming the head of a company is moot if you don't even care to update your system to the latest available system version. That would be 10.5.8 plus several security fixes. Just choose "Software Update" from the Apple menu to automatically check for the latest Apple software.

I see some conflicts with the latest version of QuicKeys, so it may be a good idea to quit other programs when you run into problems with an application. Check Console.app

I also recommend trying out applejack if something seems not to work as it should. That's basically a script that performs some checks of the system in one go. - Download from <http://applejack.sf.net/> or, if the page doesn't load, from <http://download.cnet.com/AppleJack/3000-2094_4-40293.html>
- install applejack
- make a note on paper:
  Cmd-s (or Apple-S)
  applejack auto restart
- restart your Mac and directly after the startup sound press Cmd+s on your keyboard. This will start the system in Single User Mode, i.e. you will see a command line like in Terminal.app (btw. don't try to run applejack from the Terminal). - After the ':' type 'applejack auto restart' (without the quotes, all in lower case), hit return and get some coffee. Don't get nervous if the fan gets noisy, the temperature sensing part of the system isn't started up yet, so it's better to have an active fan instead of a heating processor... - after all checks are performed the system will restart and you can log on to your standard account (which is hopefully not the primary admin account...)

OK, when trying to stitch on 10.5 I see the usual Hugin stitcher window for a very short time before it just closes. No idea, no message in the logs.

I now download ptbatchergui-mac-2010.4.0-RC3.dmg copy it to my HD, start it, load my project file and click on the "play" button. Seems to work this way. Nice workaround.
