We don't have to reinvent the wheels.  there are plenty of examples of similar 
applications who have solved this same question a long while ago.

so far, thanks to yuur help, I was able to build the binaries.  Next I have to 
read through README.hsi.  Maybe tonight before going to sleep.  And then play 
with it.  Maybe on the weekend.
