It is irresponsible of those articles to called the wave a "hum". Hums are
audible by definition, indicating low frequencies, say below 100Hz, down to
the lowest audible frequencies  , which are over 20Hz.  The "hum" they are
describing is 10milliHertz   That is 0.01 Hz.  You would not sense this with
a sound meter - more a seismographic or barometer !

Their headlineand shallow synopsis just adds to the confusion re real hums,
and The Hum. Totally unrelated.
