This is a 1600 Century Scottish saying. It means “Mettle is dangerous in a blind horse” Here’s another : “Tender handed stroke a nettle, And it stings you for your pains, Grasp it like a man of mettle, And it as soft as silk remains” - Aaron Hill – English Dramatist, 17 Hundreds. Undirected anger is dangerous; focused anger with a purpose behind it can be useful, but it must have a target or it will simply atrophy. To defeat this “thing” in its entirety a “START” line must be drawn somewhere. As the inquiry progresses more “dirty linen” will be exposed. To fire off and chase multiple “causes” will dilute any effort and progress made toward a solution. It will also cause discontent and misdirected argument “in the ranks”. My blood pressure is fine Trev, but thanks for the thought. I’ve got my shoulder to this massive “ball” and I’m pushing as hard as I can to get the darn thing moving. Once it’s rolling it will gain momentum – Then watch the feathers begin to fly! Any and all effort is welcome in whatever form it may take.
