Dear Friends,

Greetings from Jan Swasthya Abhiyan, ( JSA ) Mumbai!

As you aware Maharashtra Government has decided to hike rates including
those of case papers, investigations and surgery charges in 19 colleges
under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) across the
state. There exists enough evidence that user fees prevent low-income
families from accessing healthcare services.

As a response to the Government’s decision, JSA Mumbai is organizing a Press
Conference cum Public Meeting on the occasion of World Health Day, 7th
April, 2011.
The meeting will address the range of issues which have a negative impact on
people’s right to Health Care in both Public and Private Hospitals.

Ravi Duggal, Program Officer, International Budget Partnership and Sujata
Khandekar, Director, CORO will speak at the meeting.

JSA Mumbai has conducted a survey on situation of health care in Mumbai.
Findings of the study and testimonials from patients from different parts of
the city, on various issues and concerns of public and private hospitals
will also be presented during the meeting.

You are cordially invited to attend the meeting and contribute to the
discussion.

The meeting will be held on the 7th of April, 2011 at the Mumbai Marathi
Patrakar Sangh (1st Floor Hall) between 3 pm and 5 pm.

Regards

Members of JSA, Mumbai
