As you say, there is no such animal.  We all keep reaching for it, but it's
unattainable.  It does make me think of the words of Dorothy Parker:

One perfect rose;
He gave me one perfect rose.
Why is it nobody ever gives me
One perfect Cadillac,
Do you suppose?

Or one perfect gurdy.  Take your pick. ;-)
