I does sound like you've had some wood movement if the change is that dramatic. 
I find that my instrument requires a lot of adjustment (more than I like) for 
weather-related issues. The worst was when I went to Kentucky last summer to 
play at a camp for children with a rare brain disease. My gut strings were 
going flat as I played and I had to keep retuning throughout the whole time. It 
was insane.
