Hello Everyone,
  I'm nearly in the same situation, the gurdy is ordered, (G/D
tuning), now shopping for books/dvd's/tutorials.

The goal is to learn to play for myself/renfaire/SCA/pagan/early music
fans.
It would certainly be advantageous to find other players in the Mid-
Atlantic area
of the US.
