I have been under the spell of the Hurdy Gurdy for about a year now,
ever since I saw one on the cover of my brother-in-law’s luthier
magazine. I am a mechanical engineer by trade and a woodworker by
hobby and have made several unique things. I absolutely insist on
making unique things that are difficult or near impossible to sell. I
simply wouldn’t have it any other way.

Anyway, I have decided that I need to build a Hurdy Gurdy and would
like some help selecting the one that would be best to make. You
probably get this request a lot. I do have access to a machine shop
and my own woodworking shop and can read prints, etc. There are
several sources of free prints, but I am not sure which Hurdy Gurdy to
make. Actually, I am willing to pay for a decent set of prints if I
need to. I have no musical inclination and don’t know diatonic from
fully chromatic keybox or other such things, but I bet I could build
one. Anyway, I would prefer to build from scratch because I know what
the kits cost and can’t really go there.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
