Hi Uli,
Great, hope we can meet. I am on the south east side of the Rochester area, about 30-40 minutes from Newark. Letchworth Park is south of Rochester (40 min) (Grand Canyon of the East). You can try reaching me by my cell phone at 585-576-4854. I work during the week at Eastman Kodak, but let me know when you are in the area. There was a recent HG event in Pennsylvania 2 weeks ago I could not attend, but we did have 10 HG players last May at another event in the region which was great fun .

Hi John,

Rochester seems to be at least close to the turning point of our route. I suggest that I will send you an email when I can see if and when we are close to Rochester. So maybe it will be possible to make an appointment to
meet.
Would be nice to talk to somebody playing the hurry-gurdy in the States.

And, sorry I have to disappoint you: I won't bring my instrument to the U.S. On the one hand the shipping is expensive, on the other hand I do not trust the company (even if it's Lufthansa) to handle my instrument with care. I have a Weichselbaumer Alto (4 chant, 3 drone, 3 trumpet stings) which is an expensive instrument so I won't run any risk, even if I have a
hard case for it. (you can see pix of me and my hg on
www.gambrinus-folk.de - There is also a link to Djshop where you can here
samples of my band playing.

I hope it can be possible to hook up and I will get you informed as soon
as I can se when we are approaching Rochester.

Best regards,
Uli

HI Uli,
I am in Rochester NY, and yes I play the hurdy gurdy (along with all
sizes of recorder and hammer dulcimer). Could meet in Rochester or
local area. Are you bringing your instrument?

Dear hurdy-gurdy group,

my wife an I are going to travel through upstate New York, beginning
Sept.
30th to Sept. 14th. The plan is going by RV from Newark to Lake
Placid,
Letchworth an Finger Lakes region and back. Thereafter we stay for a
week
in Pittsburgh, PA.

Are there any Hurdy-Gurdy events one could recommend? Or is there a
chance
to meet one of you for a cup of coffee and a chat?

Best regards,
Uli
