It may be that trying to agree on the individual specs for the perfect
gurdy may be self-defeating. Could we just pick an existing gurdy plan
that is already available and agree to comment on that build, as a
group? The questions and comments we share building any model gurdy
would benefit all builders. Individuals could adapt and modify to meet
their needs while still participating and contributing to the specific
model gurdy agreed on as a group.

Since Alden and Cali have written 'Notes on Dewit hurdy-gurdy plans' I
think we could use that for our group build. They have already offered
a lot of instruction toward that model, used copies of 'Making and
Playing Musical Instruments' are inexpensive, and the resulting gurdy
should be fine for a beginners instrument.

I am building Graeme McCormack's 'Jiri', but will also build and
contribute toward whichever instrument this group decides on. The
important thing is to take advantage of Alden's proposal for a
'builders topic', and discuss building any gurdy, rather than risk no
discussion at all.
