Geoff's advice is very good. Just one small quibble with it. If you are using a
very thin string like Neil Brookâs Wonder String, you may find that the best
results come from applying cotton only to about a quarter to half the width of
the wheel on the bridge side. If you'll forgive my ASCII art, something like
this:
Cotton
String => -------------------|||||--------
_____________ ^
Wheel => | | | |
| | | | <= Bridge
(Hope that transfers in some way that makes sense.)
