OK, maybe not so minor...

Hi all. I have an Olympic Chinook (thanks, Cali and Alden!) which has
served me well through a couple of years of abuse. As many of you will
know, it's (usually) fitted with a drapeau-style trompette lifter, which
lifts the string off the wheel when not needed.

Well, I broke it.

I've spent some time head-scratching trying to figure out a solution here,
which doesn't involve shipping cross-country (I know you guys, Cali and
Alden, would do a superb job but want to devise a fix that's robust enough
to put up with my enormous mitts wrenching the poor little thing in
mid-tune). I've thought of drilling a newly-made flag and using a metal
post to support the part, but can't come up with a suitable way to deliver
enough friction to hold the drapeau in either 'closed' or 'open' position.
Having said that, I am open to any ideas at all... I accept that this could
include 'buy a bunch of replacements and keep them in your pocket' :-)

Has anyone had any similar experiences, and does anyone have any
suggestions?
