Precisely, if a bank and voice are selected for a track in the voice setup
page the track will use that sound for all of the patterns in the style. If
the bank knob is turned all the way to the left until "***Phrase***" appears
the phrases will play back using whatever sound they were recorded with
(this can be changed by pressing record without pressing play, then pressing
pattern twice. You can then change the bank and program and press stop. The
phrase will then play back using the new sound you have selected). The
advantage of using "***Phrase***" is that you don't have to use the same
sound on a track for every pattern in a style. A lot of people have
experienced problems with using the phrase setting but I have to say it's
always worked perfectly for me
