Well - it sounds like the ESI4000 is a pretty good option.  I'm looking at 
the Turbo option and need just to look into my own finances to work out the 
details.  It comes standard with a lot of goodies that other "competitors" 
just can't compete with in that price range.  I have heard people say "go for 
the a3000!" but the only reasons they say that are for the FX and ease of 
use.  Having mucked with a Korg N364, interfaces don't phase me.  Emu seems 
to get props for the best sound characteristics and through a SCSI port, a 
Zip drive, 16m ROM standard, all those outs as well a huge sound library 
(bigger than Akai and way bigger than Yamaha).  With the money I save, I 
could get a CD-Rom to throw on it.  To do that to an A3000, you are looking 
into the $2k (US) range, unless you can find one used and I've never seen one 
used.  Lots of S2000's though.  Wonder why?  Looking forward to hooking it up 
the RM1X.
