To follow-up: My personal favorite is Millo MultiLayered2. It's a bit more 
comprehensive than GMKit, it has roughly the same layout as GMKit (it can play 
demo songs out-of-the-box), is properly licensed, and sounds good to me. On the 
downside, it sounds quite different than GMKit. GMKit has fairly "universal" 
timbre, wheread Millo has strong "vintage" vibe.

Another idea that I come up with is Kickstarter campaign to create new/buy 
existing sample library. I'm fairly sceptical about that, however.
