this depends a little bit on Jeremys changes. It seems to me that they should be tested quite well. At the moment i have the feeling that it maybe makes more sense to create a beta3 and then an rc1, maybe with 4 weeks in between. However, i don't see the need for your feature to be present in 1.0. At the moment i would try to avoid changes which are not necessary for 1.0 to strictly avoid any other release delays. But i don't think that this will be a problem, since people can start to test your branch and give feedback as soon as the pull request is there. I could also to offer to build a windows binary, if this is of any help.
