While you are preparing to study drawing online you need to make sure that the
subjects you choose to draw are demanding enough to develop your ability but
not so tough that you get unenthusiastic. So one of the queries troubling
those who study drawing online is " What topics should I select to study
drawing?"

The response: Start by drawing regular objects. But draw them in unfamiliar
ways. Even your shoe is a good thing to begin with!

You should also try first drawing single objects which you have put up in
front of you rather than attempting a full street scene on the first day.
Gadgets like kitchen paraphernalia and the various bits of flotsam and jetsam
you find in your pockets or hand bag such as keys, lighters and cosmetics are
also good drawing subjects. Gadgets, flowers, furniture, shoes and a variety
of natural objects are also good subjects.

 What about Sketching Statuettes?

A comment on statuettes as these seem to be very popular subjects for
beginning artists: It is not a first-class idea to draw statuettes as you
will lose a lot of element and you are actually doing an illustration of a
molding which was actually received from a picture. Consequently your drawing
will be pretty unrelated from the original subject. Disappointing drawings are
the result, unless you manage to capture the statuette-like details of your
subject like the surface structure, light blemishes on the surface etc.

Illustration from life vs. Illustration from Photographs

Drawing from life generally produces superior results. You should in fact draw
from life as regularly as you can, there is no replacement.

But most budding artists do not make the grade and are disenchanted when
trying to draw from life right from the beginning. So rehearse drawing from
photographs to get ready for deeper levels of drawing.

To triumph over common limitations of average photographs, try to take the
photograph yourself. So you'll have an idea of the scene and connect
expressively to the matter.

Be trained in Drawing from Life

Once you've made some progress drawing from photographs, it's time to make the
next step: initiate drawing from life.

It's the most important thing to practice once you have attained the
preliminary skills. That means you should always try to draw something that in
within your eyesight.

Whilst doing this it is surely a worthy idea to draw things from an arbitrary
angle so that you are forced to observe the object intently rather than just
relying on your memory.

As well try to follow the nature of object to the skill you are trying to
learn. If you are rehearsing line drawing then a fuzzy toy is not going to be
very helpful!

For example your own hands are a fascinating subject for study and easy enough
to start with - and they are always promptly available!

 Additional Practices to Learn Drawing

There are a lot of exercises you can do to get better at your drawing and
there is certainly not enough space here to list all of them. But presented
below are some of the guidelines:

- Try drawing different objects using different media and different methods.
No drawing exercise ever goes to waste and the new media will without doubt
guide you to observe your object in a different way.
- If you more often than not draw very slowly, try drawing promptly, and vice
versa.
- If you usually draw tiny and tight then try drawing big and free.
- Challenge and extend yourself and you will find that your normal drawing
style will be better.
- You might also like to draw a moving object, like a person or an animal, as
this will train you to do quick observations and to record them rapidly as the
subject moves on.

 And Most Essential ...

The most significant thing for which there is no alternative to learn drawing
online is practice! Practice, practice, practice... Whilst it comes to drawing
there is no substitute for good old elbow grease.
