Birders

Today at Boyson Park along the west edge of Marion I enjoyed a 3 vireo / 8
warbler flock that included a female Black-throated
Blue Warbler. Also seen were relatively late Yellow-throated and Warbling
Vireos and sorta late Black-and-white and Mourning
Warblers. These birds were in the area of the spring that bubbles up at the
south edge of the fenced-in pool, reached by taking
the east fork of the trail that heads south from the parking lot on Boyson
Road. There are signs saying "trail closed", which
really isn't the case ( I was joined on the trail by women with children,
joggers, amorous teenagers and several deer ).

Interestingly, despite the recent reports of a Thrush flight in Iowa, I failed
to find a single Thrush, nay, not even a Robin.

There's a lot of residual evidence of last month's flash flooding of Indian
Creek, and the mosquitoes were irksome to say the least.
