Tom Schilke and I checked the marsh this morning and found more activity
and open water than we had anticipated. A total of 16 waterfowl species
(Canvasback, Redhead, Common and Hooded Merganser, Greater and Lesser
Scaup, Bufflehead, N. Pintail and Shoveler, Common Goldeneye, Ring-necked
Duck, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, A. Wigeon, and Mallard). 16 Sandhill
Cranes calling and 14 Bald Eagles harassing waterfowl. The Greater
White-fronted Geese outnumbered the Canada's that we could see. No
Tundra's Swan's.
