I got out for a little while this morning in SW Des Moines and checked the Grand Ave. sodfarms, Raccoon Valley Park (RVP), and the Hallett gravel pits. There were many new arrivals in the past few days. Green-winged Teal- 44 (sodfarm) Blue-winged Teal- 7 (sodfarm) Common Merganser- 274 (253 at Hallett) Red-breasted Merganser- 409 (272 at RVP) Common Loon- 1 (RVP) Horned Grebe- 1 (Hallett) American White Pelican- 37 (RVP) Double-crested Cormorant- 26 (RVP) American Coot- 22 Eastern Phoebe- 2 (Hallett) Good birding...
