I did some birding and BBA work in north central Iowa yesterday and found the following:
a Hooded Merganser brood and single American and Least bitterns at Ottosen Potholes 1 Least Bittern and 1 Common Moorhen at Big Wall L. 1 Broad-winged Hawk along the Des Moines R. n of Algona 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch at Riverview Cemetery in Algona 1 male Great-tailed Grackle and a Swamp Sparrow nest with young at Union Slough NWR Steve ********** Stephen J.
