Bill Scheible, Chris Caster, and I enjoyed great views of one Say's Phoebe
between 12:15-1:15 today at the previously described location in Dickinson
Co. The bird spent most of its time on the south side of the road around
the easternmost gravel pile with the cut bank, and north of the road along
the fence line along the eastern edge of Freda Hafner Kettle Hole. It was
interesting to watch it chase away a larger Eastern Kingbird that came too
close. At one point as we watched it we heard a second Say's Phoebe calling
repeatedly for several minutes. There were at least three Clay-colored
Sparrows and one Lark Sparrow singing there.

At the Spirit Lake landfill, there was one Caspian Tern among the hundreds
of Ring-billed and Franklin's Gulls, but we did not find the California
Gull.
