After about five crepuscular visits to Sioux City Prairie in the past two
weeks, tonight I heard the first "peeent"s of the American Woodcock. This
must have been a lonely single male as he persisted only for 5-10 minutes
and I saw no display flight. It's exciting to have him back, though!

The trips have been pleasant with lovely looks at the apposition of
Jupiter and Mercury on the western horizon along with the waxing of
tonight's "supermoon". There have been evenings with many flights of
geese. The bats are swooping for the first flying bugs of spring!
