Even though the river is nearly ice free, rare gulls remain
at the Quad Cities. A handsome California Gull topped the list.

   1 Adult California Gull (in breeding plumage)
   1 Adult Kumlien's Gull (continues)
   1 Juv. Iceland/Kumlien's Gull (continues)

 The California Gull was fairly close to shore then flew towards
Iowa's side above Smith's Island. Gulls were resting there.

 I also checked L&D 13 but few gulls were at that dam. Diving 
ducks covered the pool and Tundra Swans were quite evident. Most 
swans were on the Illinois side but a few were in Iowa backwaters.
