After telling Jim Sinclair a couple of days ago that I hadn't seen Red-headed Woodpeckers around lately, I was heartened to see not only an adult but also a juvenile bird just now. Perhaps they did successfully nest. Even more surprising was that one of the birds chased a Red-shafted Flicker off the tree. I wonder where that guy came from!
