Over the last several days I have had a couple of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds
competing for my feeder, after most of the summer with only a rare sighting.
Sunday afternoon I heard (but did not spot) a Red-Tailed Hawk. Could I have
spotted a Fox Sparrow in a tree in my backyard? -- it was a very fleeting
glance on Saturday -- had a long narrow rufous tail and darkish head, I didn't
see the belly. All in a neighborhood south of Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City.
