... I should also mention HUGE numbers of Purple Martins, Northern Rough-winged Swallows and Cliff Swallows. We don't make any attempt to count these, but there sure seem to be more of them this year than usual-- especially the Purple Martins.

The first hour (9-10am) was amazingly busy for August with a kettle of 27 Turkey Vultures that streamed south just 30-40 ft. overhead and just west of the tower the highlight. Flights at this time of year don't last long though, and by noon the watch was pretty much dead. Five hours of observation today.
