Yesterday afternoon I saw a FOY BOBOLINK fly over the visitor center
parking log giving its flight song. Also saw about 20 SMITH'S LONGSPURS
were still in the burned prairie near the visitor center. Shorebirds
changed shifts sometime during the day, with the Willets being replaced
with 5 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS by afternoon. The dowitchers were still
present this morning along with other shorebirds.

"There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of birds. There
is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature--the
assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after the winter." --Rachel
Carson
