Today I received photographs of a Brambling that was a one-day wonder last Monday at a feeder in the town of Peterson. Luckily many good photographs were taken and I am working with the couple to document their rare visitor for the IOU records committee.
I also received today a report of Black-bellied Whistling Duck on a pond at the municipal golf course in Spencer visiting backyard feeders of a couple I know. In talking to them on their deck tonight two birds showed up about the middle of April and only one has been seen lately. It was there this morning and usually shows up right at dusk to feed on seed from their feeders and then be resting near the pond in the early morning. We just got back from their home after watching this unique duck standing on their platform feeder eating peanuts and safflower. May the birds be with you and may people you know call you when they have seen something different!
