The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) will offer 2 (two) short courses which will
be taught by Dr. Henry Posamentier: "Siliciclastic Sequence Stratigraphy: Concepts and
Applications" (August 24-26, 2004) in the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta and "3D Seismic
Visualization and Interpretation - Applied Seismic Stratigraphy and Seismic
Geomorphology - Exploration and Development Concepts and Workflows" (August 27, 2004)
in the HIVE Room, BP INDONESIA Office, Jakarta.
Dr. Henry W. Posamentier, General Manager of Geoscience and Technology for Anadarko,
Canada, is well known for his contributions to sequence stratigraphy and depositional
systems in Indonesia and around the world. This widely published and very popular
instructor employs 3D seismic integrated with borehole data to interpret depositional
systems and reservoir models, with emphasis on deep-water depositional settings.
In the "Siliciclastic Sequence Stratigraphy: Concepts and Applications" course,
participant will learn principles of sequence stratigraphy of sequence stratigraphy
and how to apply these under conditions of varying tectonics, sediment flux, and
physiography. Log, core, and seismic data are used to recognize key surfaces and
facies, and to correctly modify the sequence stratigraphic model. A copy of SEPM
Publication "Siliciclastic Sequence Stratigraphy - Concepts and Apllications" is
included in the course fee US$ 900 for IPA Members and US$ 950 for others.
The one-day course on "3D Seismic Visualization and Interpretation - Applied Seismic
Stratigraphy and Seismic Geomorphology - Exploration and Development Concepts and
Workflows" will illustrate workflows and techniques for analyzing 3D seismic data for
the purpose of extracting stratigraphic and geologic information - the emphasis in
this course will be on interpreting geology using 3D seismic data. Visualization
techniques blending section views (seismic stratigraphy) with plan views (seismic
geomorphology) will be illustrated using live demonstration on a workstation platform.
