Jejak Tsunami berupa pasir dan material dari laut kedalaman tertentu (pasir besi yang berasosiasi dengan lempung) yang terdapat pada lapisan tanah 15 - 20 cm di Desa Cikembulan dan beberapa tempat hingga kedalaman 2 meter, sebelah barat Pangandaran. Conto pasir tersebut akan dikirim ke laboratorium USA dengan menggunakan alat akselerator kandungan material radiocarbon yang dapat mengetahui usianya.
