And here we have error in the logic: It is absolutely NOT
easy to counterfeit the documents!
Perhaps not for those who don't do it on a fairly regular basis, but easy
enough that fake ID can be purchased literally on any street corner.
It can be purchased on the street corner, but it is not good enough to
validate it against proper services like immigration officer, bank clerk
or policeman (except stupid ones).
Example: U.S. Visa. Many folks in my country were stupid enough to buy
such "fake VISA" but they didn't reach U.S.
UV signs and other techniques were stopped them at Polish border, so
very few of them were stopped on "second level" - O'Hare (Chicago, IL). <g>
I also never heard about GOOD fake copy of new Polish driving license.
Poor forgeries are around, but they are easy to detect.
BTW: Do you still widely use embossed cards ? Why ?
Flat ones are majority here in EU, many of them require PIN validation.
U.S. is the only country where I'm not obliged to sign the receipt from
POS (using embossed VISA Business). I even have chip on card, but you
still use these old fun mechanical devices. It's like punched card
reader. <vbg>
