I allow upto 20 volumes with SRS. One thing to be aware of is disk recovery. One must be sure all volumes that contain extents of the data set are restored.

I'm pretty sure the only reason the 5 volume limit was chosen was because all the examples in the SRS manual use 5 volumes, but I want to make sure I'm not creating a new problem by allowing files to jump to even more volumes and extents. I realize there is a potential performance hit, but I'm not to concerned about that for the particular files in question. I also realize there are some other solutions. The pools in question consist of mod-3 volumes, and I'd love to convert them to larger volume configurations, but that simply is not an option for me at this time. Throwing more volumes at the pools is also not an option currently available to me. Thanks.
