First, to be a pendant. Linux does not run on z/OS. Linux runs in its own LPAR or under z/VM. Therefore, if you want to use Linux, you must __BUY__ it and run it on separat LPAR (directly on the LPAR or under z/VM on that LPAR). Using Linux will increase your costs. Why? First, in order to get WAS to be supported by IBM in a Linux environment, you must run specific versions/distributions of Linux. These are not free (as in beer). Second, you must have at least one person who knows how to install, customize, and maintain Linux on zSeries. Or you must have a support relationship with a Linux VAR such as Sine Nomine Associates (http://sinenomine.net/) to do it for you. -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer UICI Insurance Center Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its' content is protected by law.
