Right, things like this: "Because IBM is not ready to revamp its System z mainframes with eight-core processors (but probably will sometime around the launch of eight-core Power7 processors next year), it has little choice but to compete with better and faster and more capacious x64 iron from both Intel and Advanced Micro Devices on price." ...are gibberish. "Because Yamaha is not ready to equip its Superbikes with V8 engines (but probably will sometime around some randomly chosen, irrelevant time point in the future), it has little choice but to compete with better and faster and more capacious Formula 1 cars on price" would make as much sense. Who cares how many cores something has? "We gots cores! Come and git yer cores!" OK, I feel better now. Anyway, this author definitely has an axe to grind, just not sure what it is. Most of his articles have a weird slant to them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
