Thanks. Makes sense. I find the DFSMS bookshelf to be about the most
unintuitive of the lot. (How can anyone in their right mind create a
"permanent" reference manual with the incredibly unhelpful name of "Using
the New Functions"?)

I would suggest Managing Catalogs as a good introduction to the "big
picture" for catalogs in a z/OS environment.
