The Catalog team tells me APAR OA25072 permanently disables autotuning, and introduces a new calculation at open time to adjust the number of buffers (BUFND/BUFNI) to an adequate level if they were not supplied when the catalog was defined. What we found was that in some environments, contrary to our expectations, the overheads associated with autotuning overcame its benefit. We would like to revisit this some day, but have no current plans.

Just read the APAR descriptions. Based on what I read the answer seems to be NO.
