As always the complain thread exceeds the eventual ad thread by several magnitudes...
Nevertheless, as I see it, the purpose of "forbidding" ads has the purpose to minimize "clutter/spam" in the list - for the benefit of the members. And maybe also to minimize confusion of newbie's. In practice I have never been irritated (or confused) by the eventual ads at this forum, they have been relatively very few. Someone said that he fears that the list would be cluttered by technical questions and answers for products. Does that also e g include Yeager's answers to DFSORT questions ? Or is IBM as a software vendor excluded in this matter ?
