Texaco, Houston Texas, in the late 1970s and 1980s was mostly PL/I. That was my first job out of college in June 1980. Fortunately I had PL/I in college. I don't remember which compiler Texaco was using. They were running MVS/JES3 on dual 3033s. Also, they had the 3850 Mass Storage device. It was very interesting to watch that thing in action. They were using TSO/SPF on 3278 CRTs.
