Yes, I'm aware of those. In this case there aren't any VSAM files involved,
yet anyway. Our clues are limited, we have the DSN that is "bad" at the end
of the day, it's a simple PS. I processed 2 days SMF 14/15's for any access
to that dataset. Then I processed again for any OTHER datasets touched by
the jobs that touched the first dataset. No surprizes. I have found one
job that the user submits, but they don't leave it on the spool and I can't
find the source or any clues in the TSO session 14/15 for the JCL. I see
SPFTEMP1.CNTL, then the batch job runs. They may be using a sort panel or
something, I have a road trip scheduled.

I also checked 14/15's for jobnames starting with FTP and got some, so the
FTPD processes cut the records, like I assumed.

The only other thing I can think of is to check catalog activity SMF records
to see if some sort of DSN flipping is happening.

Thanks

Guess what started it all... they moved our library system off the mainframe
to "servers", now there are at least 3 involved, one is Digital, others are
Wintel and there used to be AIX. Simplification I guess... Now after a few
years of staff turnover, nobody knows how this process workd.
