We have been using a stripped down version of the sample IEEACTRT for years now to write job and step return codes to the consoles and I've always noticed when starting or stopping an STC we receive an IEF170I message immediately following the expected IEFACTRT WTO. For example:
IEF170I 1 SUBMIT SUBMIT SUBMIT IEBGENER 0000 This output is only written to Hardcopy, not the consoles. In our exit we let the ROUTE codes and MCSFLAGS default. When experimenting with the IBM default exit which specifies ROUTE codes and MCSFLAGS, I noticed the MCSFLAGS seem to control whether this IEF170I message is written or not. IBM's default is: MCSFLAG DC B'1000001000000000' ROUT+HRDCPY * 0123456789ABCDEF The problem, when using these MCSFLAG settings is that the return codes are then only written to the hardcopy and not the consoles. We would like them written to the consoles also. Is this something I have to live with or is there some trick I don't know??
