I was astonished to learn lately that IEBCOPY will compress a data set allocated DISP=SHR, even while another job has it allocated, also SHR. Does the system maintain some sort of exclusive ENQ on LNKLST data sets to disallow their being compressed while in use? Or does it simply rely on the conscientiousness of administrators?
