Hi Guys..

Just a few points here because at least, we have a few brain cells on this
list. Even that bored IBM'er in Japan some where..

DB2 : Just quickly... Not sure if any of you where involved in the first
release of DB2. Most of the code and ideas was "copied" . I did some DB2
course recently and they still have some of theDL/1 code/concepts in DB2. So
the argument of "Relational" is BS. Any Database system can provide you a
"Relational" view of the data. Get over it... IBM used the concept of "It
has to be Relational" in the 80's. In the 90's the argument changed to "The
interface to yout data has to be SQL"... So get with the program or with the
current trends.

Last point on DB2 : I hope you are aware that the current DB2 customer base
did not even go for V8. I am not sure what V9 offers you yet but IBM could
not sell V8 to their existing customer base for various reasons that I am
not fully aware off. Maybe it's because of reams of fixes that you have
apply before it's a workable product but if those "IBM Database" developer
on the West Coast can wake up .. .get with the current trends and "release"
a version of DB2 that is really workable. ... NO FIXES required, like some
of the other Database vendors are doing. Test the stuff in your Beta sites,
apply the fixes BEFORE releasing a version to all the other customers.

IMS : Say no more... I grew up on IMS db/dc and then progressed to many
other TP monitors. Nobody would be able to convince me that IMS is
a cost effective, workable solution for Web services. If you feel this
way... take time off and go and work for WEB service companies that have no
IBM software/hardware. You will be amazed what they are doing with 10% of
your budget and do not give me that argument of "But what about volume ?"..
Go and look at the volume they are handling... seriously.. adn do not go to
Charles SchWabb because they believed the same "BS" as SPRINT. ( It's going
to cost you less... Yaaah... right )

I am not selling you any other technology... just want you all to "wake up..
your coffee or Latte is getting cold"..

Finally: That IBM'er in Japan. It's good to be loyal but do not post "BS",
because you lose credibality.. Ask "W", he learned the hard way and are
still trying to recover. Oh... for those in Asia , "W" refers to the current
leader of the USA.

Anton
