basicly to allow you to move some of your buffers into "Above the bar". So if
you do not need to move anything "Above the bar", as most DB2 users, why
are you forced by a Database vendor to move to a 64-bit machine ?

DB2 V8 is not for sissies!
Eventually, you have to leave the old hardware behind, and move on.

IBM no longer supports 31-bit operating systems.
So, why should they insist on that for their sub-systems?
